INVITATION FOR BIDS
FOR THE LEASE OF STATE LAND LOCATED IN ESCAMBIA COUNTY, ALABAMA

LOCATION OF PROPERTY SUBJECT OF THIS NOTICE: The “Fountain Correctional Parcel #10,” more specifically described as follows: A tract of land located in Township 2 North, Range 6 East, Sections 16, 17, 20 and 21, comprised of
Field Numbers 1, 102, 104, 105, 106, and 107 as depicted in Escambia County Alabama USDA Farm Service Agency maps for Farm #2908 Tract 3592 and as recorded in the USDA Farm Service Agency Office, 175 Ag Science Drive, Brewton, Alabama. This tract contains 450 acres, more or less. Note: Sole access to the parcel will be by the old Blacksher-Uriah Road off Porch Road.
MINIMUM BID AMOUNT: $36,800 for the initial year of the lease
BID DEPOSIT: EACH bid submitted must be accompanied by a certified or cashier’s check in the amount of $3,680 as bid deposit made payable to the State Lands Division which will be forfeited if the bid is accepted and the Bidder does not complete the transaction within thirty (30) days of award. Any bid submitted without such check will not be considered. Unsuccessful bidders’ deposits will be returned promptly following the bid opening. The successful bidder’s deposit will be applied to the first year’s rental amount of the successful bid.
DATE, TIME & LOCATION BID OPENING [OR AUCTION]: Sealed bids will be received by Director of State Lands Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources until 4:00 p.m. APRIL 11, 2023. Each bid must be submitted in a separate envelope clearly marked on the outside “SEALED BID FOR FOUNTAIN CORRECTIONAL PARCEL #10 – DO NOT OPEN” and delivered to: State Lands Division, 464 Folsom Administrative Building, 64 North Union St., Montgomery, AL 36130-1901. All bids received by this deadline will be publicly opened and read on the following day, April 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the office of the State Lands Division. PRIOR TO BID SUBMISSION: Interested parties must review the COMPLETE INVITATION FOR BIDS FOR THE LEASE OF STATE LAND at https://www.outdooralabama.com/public-notices/land-sales-and-leasing-act which details specific requirements related to this Invitation including, but not limited to, submission of bids and payment of advertisement costs. Requests for copies of the Invitation should be directed to the State Lands Division (334) 242-3484. Potential bidders seeking information as to accessing the property for the purposes of inspection may contact Andy Farquhar with the Alabama Department of Corrections at (334) 261-3616. It is the sole responsibility of potential bidders to seek information regarding access sufficiently in advance of the bid opening. NO BID SHALL BE RECEIVED FOR ANY REASON ANY TIME AFTER THE ADVERTISED DEADLINE. IT SHALL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BIDDER TO ENSURE ACTUAL RECEIPT OF THE BID BY THE STATE LANDS DIVISION PRIOR TO THE ADVERTISED DEADLINE. STATE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY OR ALL BIDS.
